Are you struggling with getting your baby to enjoy tummy time? Do they cry or fuss while on their belly, arch their back in protest or often reflux? If you answered yes to any of these questions this class is for you!
TUMMY TIME is a great way to bond with your baby while gently promoting motor, sensory, oral and visual development. But if your baby is having difficulty tolerating it chances are they’re not on their belly very much and are missing out on opportunities to develop important skills for function.
If this sounds like your baby, DON’T WORRY. You can learn creative ways to incorporate tummy time throughout your day, using props you already have at home, that will help make tummy time enjoyable and fun for both you and your little one.
ONE REASON we are offering this class is because Tummy Time is important for:
- Improving strength in the neck and shoulder muscles
- Preventing tight neck muscles and the development of flat areas on the back of your baby’s head
- Building muscles your baby needs to roll, sit, and crawl and for later development of fine motor skills
- Encouraging visual development
- Helping with sensory processing
- Optimizing tongue and oral function
- Reducing gas and reflux and promoting optimal bowel movements
During this 4-class series this is what you will learn:
- The benefits of tummy time and how to ease your baby into it so it’s fun and enjoyable
- How much tummy time your baby needs each day for healthy growth and development
- When to avoid tummy time with your baby
- Practice with various positions and holds that can be incorporated into your everyday activities
- How and why each position or hold develops a specific skill in your baby
- The answers to your questions regarding all things tummy time
This class is taught by Dr. Joan Elliott, MPT, DPT who is a licensed physical therapist and pediatric movement specialist at Premier Pediatric Therapy Source. She has been helping families for over 23 years learn how to maximize motor development with their children and get babies on their tummies.
